Heather Curry Self is an almost-native of Oregon residing in Portland. She is a lifelong reader and writer, and has both published and won awards for her poetry. When she’s not pounding away on her keyboard, she might be found at one of Portland’s many brewpubs enjoying a pint and the atmosphere.
She has a B.A. in English (with a minor in Film Studies) from Oregon State University, where she graduated in just over three years. She has written several e-books (all available on Amazon under Heather Curry Self) linked to her other website, Small Change Life, which is oriented towards personal growth. She also has two published novels, Backbeat and Coming Home.
Heather has nearly two decades of experience in proofreading and editing; her love for this began in college when she tutored students in all forms of writing—everything from short stories to writing history and business papers. In addition to her editing, she also mentors writers to help them through the process of finishing their work in progress.
She is also a member of 9 Bridges, a writer’s community that helps authors of all backgrounds, styles, genres and levels of experience by creating connections and providing feedback. Heather facilitates weekly writing groups for 9 Bridges, and is an active member on the board of directors.
Favorite authors include Jane Austen, Judy Blume, William Gibson, Stephen King, Tolkien, C.J. Cherryh, Arthur C. Clarke, Shel Silverstein, Harper Lee and Dr. Seuss.
